[Toàn Quốc] Mekong Friendship Project 2015 “Addressing Regional Challenges”

Since 2013, Mekong Friendship Project has been established as a short-term exchange program to support the above-mentioned efforts. Under this year’s main theme “Addressing Regional Challenges” which focuses on 3 sub-topics including Human Trafficking, Narcotics, and Siamese Rosewood. The program aims to study raising awareness of these issues, encouraging participants to analyze and criticize in depth of the causes, and motivating them towards the logical problem-solving skills. It also aims to promote connectivity in the Mekong sub-region through strengthening and developing youth networks on the basis of trust, shared values and mutual
understanding, as well as instilling positive attitudes towards GMS as a whole. Throughout the 16-day program, participating youths from Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos PDR, and Vietnam will be traveling through 5 countries, providing opportunity to see first-hand of the problems, with lectures and workshops conducted
by specialists from wide range of academia and local agencies, getting in touch with local communities, visiting institutions dealing with these 3 main issues. They will be expected to propose ways for countries to address these issues at the end of the program via presentations and academic essays.

 

 

Eligibility of applicants

1. The funding is open for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam citizens.

2. Applicants must be first-year to second-year students in the higher education.

3. Applicants must have basic knowledge regarding the Greater Mekong Sub-region and ASEAN Community.

4. Applicants must have a good command of English.

5. Applicants must have a passport that is valid at least 6 months (from the date of July 2nd, 2015) and possess VISA for traveling in some countries that is required in the program.

2. Successful candidates will be shortlisted on Friday June 12th, 2015. Only successful candidates will be given the letter of acceptance via e-mail.

3. To confirm participation in this program, participants must sign confirmation documents and submit to e-mail: [email protected] by Monday June 15th , 2015 (5 p.m. Bangkok time GMT+7)
4. The program will be held throughly from July 2nd – July 17th, 2015.

Full scholarship for participants including:

1. Round-trip airfares for international participants

2. Round-trip airfares for domestic Thai participants

3. Domestic and international airfares stated in the program

4. Local transports

5. Accommodations

6. Meals

***Any other expenses not directly related to the program are not covered***
